Accurate and efficient processing of structural steelwork represents a key aspect of our business goals and is demonstrable by our continual investment in the latest in Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) production hardware ensuring that we remain at the forefront of industry advances. Linked directly to our detailing team Numerical Control (NC) files are automatically generated and transferred to our production floor comprising:

  • Gietart 4-Turbine Automated Shot Blaster with 1500 x 600 Aperture.
  • Kaltenbach KD1015 Drilling Line capable of processing members up to 1000mm in depth.
  • Kaltenbach Close Coupled KBS 1015 mitre bandsaw.
  • Kaltenbach KBS 620G mitre badsaw.
  • Esprit Hypertherm HP260 Plasma.

With capacity to process up to 125t per week our 4 acre site is specifically designed to support our production process with stock holdings of up to 400t and finished product storage areas with capacity to hold 250t of completed steelwork on site ready for despatch. A support network of handling equipment ensures the effective movement of product throughout our site and within our  3,000m2 production area consisting of:

  • Kaltenbach drag chain conveyor with maximum SWL of 10t.
  • Kaltenbach Lift & Carry conveyor system with maximum SWL of 10t.
  • 2 No. 24mtr Span overhead travelling cranes with maximum lift of 10t.
  • 2 No. 12mtr Span overhead travelling cranes with maximum lift of 5t.
  • 2 No. 4800 Combi-Lift with maximum SWL of 4.8t.

SDM Fabrication Limited maintains an all encompassing team ethos where each and every member has an active role to play in our business. With the support of bodies such as the ECITB (Engineering & Construction Industry Training Board) our production staff are assessed to achieve NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) in their relevant trades coupled with specific training and certification in areas such as welding where all are assessed to meet the demands of BS EN 287.
